PARCEL BY COURIER

13.

Weight books = w kg

Courier charge = C zeds

Couriering a parcel costs

(i) 3.25 zeds per kg and

(ii) a fixed pick-up service charge of 5 zeds

Then parcel cost of books weighing w kg is

= 3.25 × w zeds

Total charge = pick-up service charge of 5 zeds + charge for books

Then, C = 5 + 3.25 × w

Option b) is correct.

14.

Let the weight of the parcel is w kg

Given, parcel charge = 57 zeds

Putting C = 57 zeds in the relation above, we get

57 = 5 + 3.25 × w

or, w = (57 - 5) ÷ 3.25

or, w = 16

Therefore the weight of Shyleja's parcel was 16 kg.
