Reason:Speed is a scalar quantity, which only requires a unit and a magnitude. Whereas, Velocity is a vector quantity which requires a unit, magnitude and a direction to be mentioned. But when written in the S.I. system of units both of the physical quantities will have the same units.

speed have no direction but in the case of velocity it had a magnitude and direction so the units are same (m/s or ms-1.)
