unlike the earth, the moon has no atmosphere. even if a loud explosion were to take place at any point on the moon it would not be heard even at nearby points why??

(i) Even if a loud explosion were to take place at any place on the moon, it would not be heard at a nearby point. ... Since Moon has no atmosphere. Hence, one can hardly hear the sound of loud explosion on the Moon. (ii) For different media, the speed of sound is different.

the Moon is in space, and space is mostly a vacuum (there are always some atoms floating around, but they are VERY far apart and don't interact with one another).Thus there is no sound on the Moon.
