Gandhiji is called the ‘Father of the Nation’. He is known as one of the greatest men in the world. He was born on October 2, 1869, in Gujarat. His full name was Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi. He was educated in England. He went to South Africa to practise as a lawyer. When he returned to India, he started movements against the British to make India free. His movements were based on truth and nonviolence. He was sent to jail several times. At last India was freed on August 15, 1947. On January 30, 1948 he was shot dead by a man named Nathuram Godse. Bapu lived and died for India.
