Answer: The Old Arab Merchant and the Joke
An old Arab merchant was fond of telling jokes, and he was the life of many a dinner party in the town. He was known for his sharp wit and cheerful demeanour, and everyone looked forward to his company.
But the merchant had a habit of dying his beard black, so that it would contrast sharply with his grey hair, which was always covered by his turban. One night, he attended a dinner party, and was regaling the people with his stories when suddenly, his turban fell off his head, revealing his grey hair. Everyone at the table burst into laughter.
The merchant quickly put his turban back on and took off his coat, and said, "My friends, why are you laughing? My hair is twenty years older than my beard!"
The guests were surprised to hear this and asked him to explain. The merchant smiled and said, "You see, I am fond of jokes, and I have a habit of dying my beard black. That way, I can look young and keep up with my friends. It allows me to stay in the loop and have fun with them."
The guests were amazed at the merchant's ingenuity, and they all agreed that he was indeed a wise man. From that day on, the merchant was known for his intelligence and witty jokes. He was a beloved presence at many dinner parties, with his grey hair always covered by his turban.
