This is an application of pythagoras theorem
Here dist. from ladder foot to wall=9ft
height of window=40ft
to find length of ladder, find length of hypotenuse
to find c square
the formula= a square+ b square
Here a=9ft, b=40ft
81+1600=1681
now this is in square unit, to convert to normal find its square root which of 1681= 41
Hence answer= 41ft
