UPC means Universal Product Code. UPC contains a number and a barcode. This type of code is available on almost all the retail products. Whereas Maxicode is a type of symbol which can be identified by the machines and is used to track and manage shipment of couriers/packages. United Parcel Service created Maxicode. Barcode contains a number, but Maxicode contains a dotted pattern which is arranged in hexagonal grid instead of bars.
Hence it is proved that UPC and Maxicode are not the examples of computer hardware.
