Explanation: Upendra Chandra Sharma (Bengali: উপেন্দ্র চন্দ্র শর্মা) ( b. 25 May 1912– d. 29 September 1984) was an Indian scholar and social activist from West Sonatala, Khowai, Tripura. He was the founder of "Sonatala Govt. Class XII School.

He was born into a Bengali family at Jhuria village near Chunarughat (now Bangladesh).

He started to teach a large number of poor and illiterate people under a tree at Sonatala and later he founded a Bengali Medium school in 1946 and afterwards it was upgraded to the 12th standard by the name " Sonatala Govt. Class XII School". He served the school for a long time as a Headmaster and spread the light of knowledge at Sonatala village generously. He was elected village Pradhan by the villagers in 1978. He worked for the good of people during 1980s insurgency of Tripura.

On 29 September 1984 he met his death at his home due to illness.
