Albert: i dont know when cheryl's birthday is, but i know that bernard does not know too.

this statement tells us that cheryl's birthday is not in the month of may or june, coz if it was in either of the month then bernard would have easily guessed that her birthday could be on may 19 or june 18, if albert would have said he does know the month.

Bernard : at first i dont know when cheryl's birthday is but i know now.

Bernard said now he know, that means he knows what date it could be coz when albert said he doesnt know the month, then he was indicating that the birthday wasnt on a distinct date i.e may 19 or june 18. So now bernard knew birthday has to be in july or august.

So we are left with 14 15 16 17

but then again it couldnt be on 14 of july or 14 of august, because 14 is in both the months then none of them possibly could have identified the exact month. So it has to be from 15 16 or 17

now when bernard said now he know when her birthday is that means bernard knew it is from 15 16 and 17

and if her birthday is in august then they couldnt have possibly figured it out coz there are two dates of the same month august 15 and august 17.

But since bernard said he knows , that means he has figured it out that her birthday was on july 16

and as soon as bernard said he knows albert too figured it out that it is in july coz august have 2 dates and none of them (bernard and albert) could have identified the exact date but since bernard did figured it out then they are left with the only option of july 16.

So Cheryl's birthday was on July 16.
