each will take to fill the tank if one of the two pipes can fill it in 3 hours less than
the other.​

let the pipe A fill the tank in x hrs

then the pipe will fill the tank in x-3 hrs

now,

(x+x-3)=6hrs 40mins

2x=6hrs 40mins - 3hrs

2x=3hrs 40mins

2x=220mins

x=220/2

x=110

x=1hr 50mins

x-3=4hrs 50mins

also

1hr 50mins+4hrs 50mins=6hrs 40mins
