Uranium (U) - [Rn] 5f³ 6d¹ 7s²
Energy of orbital - 8 8 7
According to afbau principle we need to fill electrons in increasing energies of orbitals so last electron goes into orbital with higher energy, where the higher energy orbital is both 5f³ 6d¹ but we know when energies are same we should see the values of n (principal quantum number) so 6d¹ has high energy than 5f³, then the last electron should go to 6d¹ that means uranium should be in d - block right but why is it in f block. Please help me
