They usually live in underdeveloped countries or areas, where they shun industry and live off the land, though this is not always the case. Other characteristics are: Shared name. Tribal sovereignty.

2] The special feature of Banjara tribe is that they are migrant from one place to another and they are doing shifting cultivation.

3] The caste system, as it actually works in India is called jati. The term jati appears in almost all Indian languages and is related to the idea of lineage or kinship group. There are perhaps more than 3000 jatis in India and there is no one all-Indian system of ranking them in order of status.

4] The chronicles of the Tai Ahoms are called as the Buranjis.

They are found mainly in upper regions of Brahmaputra river in the present state of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh.
