Happy Easter Everyone! Here's a post from Easter 2008!

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead… 1 Peter 1:3

Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him. For we know that since Christ was raised from the dead, he cannot die again; death no longer has mastery over him. The death he died, he died to sin once for all; but the life he lives, he lives to God. In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus. Romans 6:8-11

God bless you on this holiest of days. He is risen!

❛ Easter bring out the fact that the entire creation has been redeemed and signifies a new covenant between God and Humanity sealed with the blood of Jesus. ❜

The Catholic Church will celebrate Easter with great religious fervour today.

At the stroke of midnight, the Church bells with joyfully peal in heralding the resurrection of Jesus Christ as foretold by Jesus himself that, "He must go to Jerusalem and suffer.. And to be put to death and raised up on the third day." (Mt 16:21)

The resurrection of Jesus is his glorious victory over sin and death. It is 'Pasch' in which Christians too have a share. Pasch signifies transition from death to life from mortality to immortality, from sin to grace, and from slavery to freedom. Consequently, with the risen Lord, we have become a "new creation", we have put on a "new nature".

Symbols such as the blessing of the fire, the lightning of the paschal candle, the singing of the Easter proclamation, the blessing of the water, the proclamation of the Word of God, the renewal of baptismal promises, and the liturgy of the Eucharist re-enact the Lord's resurrection.

Early morning, at dawn, Mary Magdalene along with Mary (Mother of James), Salome, and Joanna ran to the tomb of Jesus and shockingly found that the tomb was open and empty, without the body of Jesus. However, they saw an angel who told them: "He's not here. He has been raised and now goes ahead of you to Galilee, where you will see him" (Mt 28:7). As recorded in the gospel of John, Mary Magdalene was the first to encounter the risen Lord and the first to break the news of his resurrection to the disciples as she announced to them, "I have seen the Lord" (Jr 20:18), and explained to them the whole incident.
