GIVEN:

  • x = –1
  • y = 2
  • 3x + 4y = k

TO FIND:

  • What is the value of k ?

SOLUTION:

We have given that, the solution of the equation are –1 and 2

  • Equation = 3x + 4y = k
  • x = 1
  • y = 2

We have to find the value of k

According to given conditions:-

On putting the given values in the equation, we get

\rm{\hookrightarrow 3x + 4y = k }

Put the values in equation:

  • x = 1
  • y = 2

\rm{\hookrightarrow 3 \times -1 + 4 \times 2 = k}

\rm{\hookrightarrow -3 + 8 = k }

\bf{\hookrightarrow 5 = k }

  • k = 5

Hence, the value of k is 5
