Solution

Given :-

  • Five years ago, Rahul was three times as old as Rishi .
  • 10 years later , Rahul would be twice as old as Rishi .

Find :-

  • Age of Rahul & Rishi

Explanation

Let,

  • Age of Rahul = x years
  • Age of Rishi = y years

A/C to question,

(Five years ago, Rahul was three times as old as Rishi . )

➩ ( x - 5) = 3 * (y - 5)

➩ x - 3y = - 15 + 5

➩ x - 3y = -10 -------------(1)

Again,

(10 years later , Rahul would be twice as old as Rishi )

➩ (x + 10) = 2 * (y + 10)

➩ x - 2y = 20 - 10

➩ x - 2y = 10 ------------------(2)

Subtract equ(1) & equ(2)

➩ -3y + 2y = -10 - 10

➩ -y = -20

➩ y = 20

Now, Keep Value of y in equ(1)

➩ x - 3 * 20 = -10

➩ x = -10 + 60

➩ x = 50

Hence

  • Age of Rahul be = 50 years
  • Age of Rishi be = 20 years
