Answer:
1.by soaking the seeds u can boost the moisture content of the seed and they become warm and produce carbon dioxide . we provide them warmth and moisture and they start to grow
2.the aim of experiment is to show that oxygen is used up in respiration
3.the set up in which the condition under study is missing is called the control
4.a little antiseptic [carbolic acid] is to be added to the flask to prevent bacterial growth on the dead seeds

The above given experimental set up is for demonstrating respiration in plants.
1. Moisture is necessary for seeds to respire, lack of enough moisture means less ATP production which inturn affects respiratory rates. It can be proved that dry seeds don't exhibit respiration by checking for carbondioxide emission levels.
2. Objective of the experiment is to demonstrate respiration in plants.
3. Control Experiment as the name suggests is carrying out the experiment under controlled factors. RR depends on :
- Carbondioxide levels
- Temperature
- Light
- Carbondioxide concentration in the atmosphere should be less so as to ensure respiration, since plants emit carbondioxide during respiration as the main product.
- Intensity of light determines the extent of photosynthesis, and it's no secret that photosynthesis requires carbondioxide, if the former's concentration is high in the atmosphere, seeds wouldn't respire to produce required CO2.
- Temperature affects the activity of related enzymes, thus an optimum temperature has to be maintained during the experiment.
4. Precautions are :
- Make sure wet seeds are taken.
- Cork should be tightly fixed.
- Experimental set-up should be literally air tight to prevent pressure differences. (Confirmation of respiration : Rise in water level due to vacuum)
- Test tube containing KOH should be hanged carefully.
