Look at the attachment. I hope you understand what I did there. We need to find the displacement i.e. distance between intial point to finishing point.
We extend the lines such that we can form a triangle and then find the hypotenuse which will be our required outcome. (length of AC)
h^2 = p^2 + b^2
=> h^2 = 9^2 + 12^2 = 81 + 144 = 225
=> h = 15
So the distance is 15 m.
