By Pythagoras theorem, we have
AC² = AB² + BC²
(15)² = (12)² + BC²
225 = 144 + BC²
BC² = 81
BC = √81
BC = 9m
So your base is of 9 m.

A 15m long leader reached a window 12 metre height from the ground and placing it against a wall at a distance a. Find the distance of the foot of leader from the wall.
By Pythagoras theorem:-
➺ AC² = AB² + BC²
➺ (15)² = (12)² + BC²
➺ 225 = 144 + BC²
➺ BC² = 225 - 144
➺ BC² = 81
➺ BC = √81
➺BC = 9 cm.
