44. Option A.

water from solution Y goes into solution X. This process is called Osmosis. Solvent molecules travel from lower concentrations of solute towards higher concentration regions across semi permeable membranes.

Initially solution X is more concentrated than solution Y. If possible Osmosis will continue until both solutions have the same concentration of the solute.

kvnmurty: Solution X is 2 Molar which is more concentrated than solution y. So water flows from outside into solution X

Hey there,

(A)----------X is 2 M sucrose and Y is 1 M sucrose.

Since, the whisking tube was earlier lighter, so it had less amount of solution. It's mass increased since the sucrose solution present in the test tube entered the whisking tube.

This was only possible due to osmosis. In this, solution travels from high solvent concentration to low solvent concentration.

If the the molarity of sucrose X would have been less then the solution from whisking tube would have entered the test tube and it would have become more shrunken and would have even lesser mass.

But since the the mass of the whisking tube increase, hence the the molar concentration of solution in test tube that is solution X is having higher molar concentration.
