All over the world today, with the advent, spread and easy availability of computers and smartphones, children have become addicted to virtual games. After all, the lure of colourful graphics, 3-D animation, a make believe world where one gets to talk freely to each other and interact with cutting edge technology, without anyone coming their way, is too hard to resist. These games attract older people in a not too dissimilar way.
However, this could have a deleterious effect on the entire child generation today and of the future. Children become highly addicted and their studies suffer. Remaining glued to the screen for long hours have an adverse effect on their eyesight. They remain so much occupied that they hardly have the time to think beyond games. Therefore, parents and the schools should encourage children to take up real games as a pastime for well-rounded growth and development.
It must be accepted, though, that virtual games are a reality and are here to stay. In view of this, these games must be designed in a manner that the children are really benefited by playing them.
