40.2 metre /hr = 11.176 m/s

speed of usain bolt = 100/9.63= 10.384m/S

since 11.176>10.384 so

Usain bolt is 11.176-10.384= 0.793m/s short of speed limit

Given : Usain Bolt ran the 2012 Olympic 100-meter race in 9.63 seconds.

He runs at this rate on a road with a speed limit of 25 miles per hour,

(25 mi/hr = 40,234 meters/hr)

To Find : how his speed compare to the speed limit

Solution:

speed limit   25 miles per hour  = 40,234 meters/hr

100-meter race in 9.63 seconds.

Distance covered in 9.63 secs   =  100m

=> Distance covered in 1 sec    =  100/9.63 m

1 hr = 3600 secs

=>  Distance covered in 3600 sec    = 3600 *  100/9.63 m

=> Distance covered in 1 hr  ≈ 37,383.18  m

Hence speed = 37,383.18  m/hr

37,383.18    < 40,234

Hence His speed is less than speed limit
