To Find : a fractional index to write√15

Solution:

nth root of  a   can be written as

\sqrt[n]{a}    or  a^{\frac{1}{n} }

a^{\frac{1}{n} }   a is base   and  1/n is the index

Square root of a can be written as

\sqrt{a} \quad \text{ or}   \quad  \sqrt[2]{a}    \quad   \text{ or}   \quad  a^{\frac{1}{2} }

Given is √15   which is equivalent to   \sqrt[2]{15}  

Hence this can be written in base index form as :

15^{\frac{1}{2} }

15^{\frac{1}{2} }  is the correct answer
