Answer:

a.  (x + y)(x - y)/4   and     b.  (10x + y)(10x - y) = 0

Step-by-step explanation:

a. We know that

      a² - b² = (a - b)(a + b)

So, x²/4 - y²/4 = (x² - y²)/4

                       = (x + y)(x - y)/4

b.    x² = y²/100

      x² - y²/100 = 0

   a² - b² = (a - b)(a + b)

     (x)² - (y/10)² = 0

     (x + y/10)(x - y/10) = 0

     (10x + y)(10x - y)/10 = 0

     (10x + y)(10x - y) = 0*10

     (10x + y)(10x - y) = 0
