Solution:

a) 100 + 93 ÷ 3 -(98-50)

⇒100 + 93/3 -(98 -50)

⇒ 100 + 93/3 - 48

⇒ 100 + 31 - 48

⇒ 131 - 48

⇒ 83

b) 96- {( 15÷3) - (45÷15)} x 10 +4

⇒ 96 - {(5) - (3)}× 10 + 4

⇒ 96 - { 5 -3 } × 10 + 4

⇒ 96 - 2×10 + 4

⇒ 96 - 20 + 4

⇒ (96 + 4) - 20

⇒ 100 - 20

⇒ 80

Some Important Notes:

[ BODMAS ]

B = Brackets

0 = of

D = Division

M = Multiplication

A = Addition

S = Subtraction

gashchhalawade: A, B and C invested 18,000 for 8 months,
16,000 for 9 months and 15,000 for 12
months, respectively in a business. At the
end of one year, total profit was 1,30,000.
If A is a working partner and gets 10% of
the profit for looking after the business,
what is the share of B in the profit?
(a) 36,000
(b) 28,500
(c) 50,000
(d) 40,000

\textbf{\underline{\underline{Answer :-}}}

a) 83

b) 80

\textbf{\underline{\underline{Explanation :-}}}

a) 100 + 93 ÷ 3 -(98-50)

\implies 100 + 93 ÷ 3 -(98-50)

\implies 100 + 93 ÷ 3 - (48)

\implies 100 + 31 - 48

\implies 131 - 48

\implies 83

\therefore Ans a) 83

\rule{300}{1}

b) 96- {(15÷3) - (45÷15)} x 10 + 4

\implies 96 - {(15÷3) - (45÷15)} x 10 + 4

\implies 96 - {5 - 3} × 10 + 4

\implies 96 - 2× 10 + 4

\implies 96 - 20 + 4

\implies 96 - 16

\implies 80

\therefore Ans. b) 80

\rule{300}{1}

\textbf{\underline{\underline{Additional Information :-}}}

BODMAS stands for :

B : Bracket

O : Of

D : Division

M : Multiplication

A : Addition

S : Subtraction

BODMAS rule means, when we get a mathematical Statement, we need to solve it according to the order the operations are arranged in the word BODMAS.

In brackets, the following is the order they are to be solved.

\tt\overline{25} Vinculum

( ) Round Brackets

{ } Curly Brackets

[ ] Square Brackets

"Of" operation means when a number or fraction is before a bracket, and without any other operation sign in between, it is simple Multiplication.

Example :-

\tt{\implies}{2 \: of \: (4 + 5) \: or \: 2(4 + 5)}

Multiply 2 by 4 and 5 and then add.

\tt{\implies} \: 8 + 10 \\ \tt{\implies}18
