5x + 12y = 99

5x+12y=99. ×6

30x-40y=-190

30x+72y=594

32y=404

y =101/8

6x -8 ×101/8 = -38

6x-101=-38

x=31/3

multiple 5 in 1st eqn
multiple 6 in 2nd eqn

then if we subtract those we get y=7
by substitution we get x=3
