If g(x) is a factor of f(x)
then f(1/2) must be zero.
putting x=1/2 in f(x) to check,
4*(1/2)³ -12(1/2)³+14(1/2) -3
4/8 -12/8 +7 -3
-8/8 +4
-1 +4
Which equals, 3.
As f(1/2) is not zero, g(x) is not a factor of f(x).
Hope this helps.
