Given:

Prism with the parameters in the picture.

To find:

The lateral surface area and the total surface area of the prism.

Solution:

1) The lateral surface of the prism includes the rectangular part of the prism

Area =  Area of the three rectangles.

Area = 8×23 + 9×23 + 23×12.04

       = 23(8+9+12.04)

       = 667.92 m²

2) Total surface area of the prism includes the lateral surface area and the area of the top and bottom.

AREA =  lateral surface area + 2×base area

          = 667.92 + 1/2×8×9

          = 667.92 + 36

          = 703.92 m²

The lateral surface area and the total surface area of the prism are 667.92 m² and 703.92 m².
