Coordinate geometry is one of the most important and exciting ideas of mathematics. In particular it is central to the mathematics students meet at school.

It provides a connection between algebra and geometry through graphs of lines and curves. The coordinate geometry is an important branch of mathematics. It mainly helps us to locate the points in a plane. Its uses are spread in all fields like trigonometry, calculus ,dimensional geometry etc.

There are many uses of coordinate geometry but some of them are :

Point your finger towards that student.

Walk towards his or her seat.

Say something like "the person sitting in the 4th row and 5th column", or "the person sitting in the left corner", or "the first student in the second last bench".In a construction field we are mainly using the coordinate geometry. The sketch of the building is pure geometry.

b) When I instruct google maps to tell me the path from Place A to Place B, it basically:

1. Finds the shortest possible path (or paths).

2. Tells me the distance and time.

Lots and lots of coordinate geometry is used in finding the shortest path and the distance between them. Obviously, there are other concepts involved too.

c) It is used in MS Paint to draw curved and slanted lines.

d) It is also made in use while developing a game to specify the locations of objects and characters.
