If you have multiple apps (Calendar, File Manager, Music Player etc) open in a single window, it gets complex to work with. You can minimize it but it will be on same Desktop. Now you can add more desktops and send some of the apps to that particular desktop. It's just like win+tab, you can minimize the apps and switch between them with win+tab key but the difference is that, previously, all the minimized windows/apps are in a same desktop.

While in multiple desktops, apps will be opened in a new desktop. Switching is much more easier
