To add a virtual desktop, open up the new Task View pane by clicking the Task View button (two overlapping rectangles) on the taskbar, or by pressing the Windows Key

How to use.........

If you're a single-monitor user -- or even if you're not -- multiple virtual desktops can be very handy. Especially if you're now working from home for the foreseeable future due to the coronavirus pandemic and juggling different projects on the same computer. Whether you're a longtime Windows 10 ($158 at Amazon) user or have only recently upgraded after support for Windows 7 ended earlier this year, multiple desktops are a super useful feature.

The Task View pane in Windows 10 allows you to add an unlimited number of virtual desktops quickly and easily. You can manage the view of your virtual desktop, and move applications to different desktops, show windows on all desktops or close pages on a selected desktop.

Explanation:

general, you can use it to organize your work and activities, you can have a desktop for your social media or the article you’re reading and a second desktop for your work apps( rendering, designing etc).

You can use tabs to do the whole thing instead, but I like to believe that it’s more organized to keep similar tabs in one desktop.

Something that no one has mentioned, Sometimes Full Screen Applications ( games, movies, etc) crashes and now you cant switch to tabs nor open task manager, in this situations I move the task manger to another desktop and the problem is solved.

If you have multiple apps (Calendar, File Manager, Music Player etc) open in a single window, it gets complex to work with. You can minimize it but it will be on same Desktop. Now you can add more desktops and send some of the apps to that particular desktop. It's just like win+tab, you can minimize the apps and switch between them with win+tab key but the difference is that, previously, all the minimized windows/apps are in a same desktop.

While in multiple desktops, apps will be opened in a new desktop. Switching is much more easier
