Answer:

In some part of brazil there is some dense forest and marshy land, thus use of train is restricted to few routes in brazil.

Explanation:

Rail transport in Brazil began in the 19th century and there were many different railway companies. The railways were nationalised under RFFSA (Rede Ferroviária Federal, Sociedade Anônima) in 1957. Between 1999 and 2007, RFFSA was broken up and services are now operated by a variety of private and public operators, including América Latina Logística, Companhia Paulista de Trens Metropolitanos and SuperVia.

Answer:

Why doesn't Brazil use more trains?

Well, as you know, a whooping 65% of Brazil’s transport system relies on roads. This is more than most, if not all, developed countries. This makes absolutely no sense, given that:

Brazil is immensely huge.It is the fifth largest country in the world, and transporting things from one side to another through roads in not a smart move, considering that there are quicker and safer ways.

It’s unsafe. Lots of dangerous chemicals and other substances are transported by trucks, instead of trains. If the truck ends up hitting another car, possibly harmful consequences may arrive. Also, given that Brazil is violent, cargo theft is quite common.

The more roads and cars you have, the more you rely on oil. Yes, oil is a cheap as of now, but who knows what will happen in the short and long term? The less the depend on oil, the better.

Despite all these reasons, they mainly focused on building roads and more roads. Highways were always given priority. Why? A couple reasons:

A highway-centered Brazil is in many people’s interests, especially those involved with the auto industry and oil companies.

American dream. The USA is the land of cars. Many Brazilians aspire to make Brazil similar to America.

Still, Brazil needs to have more trains, because:

It will benefit their exports. Brazil loses competitiveness due to bad quality roads and the time it takes for a truck to arrive in a port. Trains are faster.

It will integrate the country more easily, as trains take less time to go from one place to the other.

It will make the economy grow, creating more jobs and opportunities.
