Correct Question :- Use rational numbers 5/9 and 2/3 to verify the commutative property for addition of rational numbers ?

Solution :-

we know that, commutative property of addition says that,

  • a + b = b + a .

given that,

  • a = 5/9
  • b = -2/3

so,

→ a + b = b + a

→ 5/9 + (-2/3) = (-2/3) + 5/9

→ (5/9) - (2/3) = (-2/3) + 5/9

→ (5 - 2*3)/9 = (-2*3 + 5)/9

→ (5 - 6)/9 = (-6 + 5)/9

(-1/9) = (-1/9)
