Answer:

x is -1 and y is -1.

Step-by-step explanation:

We have equations :

• y - 2x = 1

• 3x - 4y = 1

Let, equations be :

• y - 2x = 1 ----------(i)

• 3x - 4y = 1 --------(ii)

Take equation (i)

→ y - 2x = 1

→ y = 1 + 2x --------(iii)

Put equation (iii) in equation (ii)

→ 3x - 4y = 1

→ 3x - 4 × (1 + 2x) = 1

→ 3x - 4 - 8x = 1

→ -4 - 5x = 1

→ -5x = 1 + 4

→ -5x = 5

→ x = -5/5

x = -1

Now, Put value of x in any equation :

→ y = 1 + 2x ----(iii)

→ y = 1 + 2 × (-1)

→ y = 1 - 2

y = -1

Thus,

Value of x is -1 and y is -1.
