Using the identity, (x+a)(x+b) = x 2+(a+b)x+ab

[Here, a = 4 and b = 10]

We get,

(x+4)(x+10) = x2+(4+10)x+(4×10)

= x2+14x+40

(x + a)(x + b) = x² + (a + b)x + ab

∴ (x + 4)(x + 10) = x² + (4 + 10)x + (4)×(10)

                          = x² + 14x + 40

∴ (x + 4)(x + 10) = x² + 14x + 40
