HEYA......

(102)^2

= (100 + 2)^2

= (100)^2 + (2)^2 + 2×100×2

= 10000 + 4 + 400

= 10404

chakulee: and
chakulee: in the right angled LMN, angle M is equal to 90 degree .if 1 (LM) is equal to 12cm and 1 (LN) is equal to 20 cm find the length of seg MN
KVaishu: Use pythagorean theorem to find out the answer..
KVaishu: As we know it is a right angled triangle,
KVaishu: LM square + MN square = LN square
KVaishu: 12 square + MN square = 20 square
KVaishu: 144 + MN square = 400
KVaishu: MN square = 256
KVaishu: MN = 16

We know a formula,
                                       ( a + b )² = a² + b² + 2ab
Now let's make use of this formula to find out the value of (102)² without actual multiplication.
As, 102 = 100 + 2,
                                (100 + 2)² = 100² + 2² + 2 (100) (2)
                                                 = 10000 + 4 + 400
                                                 = 10404
∴ (102)² = 10404.

Hope my answer helps you..
