Because the particles don't move,solids have a definite shape and volume, and can't flow. Because theparticles are already packed closely together, solids can't easily be compressed. Because there are lots ofparticles in a small volume, solids are dense..

you can see that.....the particles of solid has a very high cohesion between them........ due to which they can't flow.......
while in gases and liquids cohesion is quite low....... that's why they can flow....
