Explanation: This is because only specific atoms my lose electrons or gain electrons, if it loses electrons it becomes positive but if it gains electrons it becomes negative for example Sulfur has a mass of 32 and a proton/ atomic number of 6 lets say you have that twice but you have a table where Sulfur is shown twice when one has a proton number of 16 and a mass of 32.
