Given:

Use the table of reciprocals.

(1) 9086 (2) 1799 (3) 23.09 (4) 0.000 080 25 (5) 0.9596 (6) 10/99.26 (7) 100/0.4506 (8) 1/713 000 000

To find:

Find the reciprocal of the following numbers.

Solution:

A reciprocal of a number is a multiplicative inverse of itself.

If "x" is a number, then it's reciprocal is given by "1/x"

as x × 1/x = 1     (∵ 1 is a multiplicative identity)

From given, we have,

(1) 9086

Reciprocal of 9086 = 1/9086

(2) 1799

Reciprocal of 1799 = 1/1799

(3) 23.09

Reciprocal of 23.09 = 1/23.09

(4) 0.000 080 25

Reciprocal of 0.000 080 25 = 1/0.000 080 25

(5) 0.9596

Reciprocal of 0.9596 = 1/0.9596

(6) 10/99.26

Reciprocal of 10/99.26 = 99.26/10 = 9.926

(7) 100/0.4506

Reciprocal of 100/0.4506 =  0.4506/100 = 4.506×10^{-3}

(8) 1/713 000 000

Reciprocal of 1/713 000 000 = 713 000 000
