The MLAs are directly elected by the people and then they become members of the  legislative assembly to form the government. In our country, each state has the legislative assembly and each state is divided into different areas. From each area, one representative are selected who further becomes the MLA. Thus, this MLA represents the constituency in the legislative assembly of the state.
