R.H. Whittaker proposed the Five Kingdom Classification System.

The criterion which he used to classify was :

1.Mode of nutrition

2.Source of nutrition

3.Body organisation

4.Cell Structure.

Five Kingdoms were Monera,Protista,Fung,Plantae and Animalia.

1.Kingdom Monera includes prokaryotic organisms like Bacteria and prokaryotic microbes.

2.Kingdom Protista includes eukaryotic organisms like Protozoans and eukaryotic microbes.

3.Kingdom Fungi includes eukaryotic organisms like Fungi.

4.Kingdom Plantae includes eukaryotic organisms like Algae.

5.Kingdom Animalia includes eukaryotic animals.

Hope it helps u!!!

Robert Harding Whittaker is a renowned plant ecologist who established the Five Kingdom classification theory in plant taxonomy.

Whittaker method is used to first distinguish between the prokaryotic and the eukaryotic microscopic plants, based on the basic properties of these plants.

Later, this method was also used for classifying the bacteria, fungi, algae, molds and other protozoan plants, which form the distinct divisions of the heterogeneous plant kingdoms.

Algae and fungi are grouped under separate plant kingdoms, due to their diversities.
