Relation between force , energy and displacement
Explanation:
- It can be clearly seen from the picture that work is done in response to gravity , more importantly against gravity as the bucket is lifted from the well.
- So in this case , work done will be equal to the weight of the object and the vertical distance through which the object is lifted.
- This work done is the same as energy used in the reaction amd will be given as :
Work done = force x displacement
Also we know that ; Force = mass x acceleration
F = m x g [acceleration due to gravity]
Hence, Work done = mass x acceleration x displacement
Or , W = m x g x h
W = mgh
where m=mass, g=acceleration due to gravity and h=height to which the body is raised )
Incase we need to consider the angle that is made with the direction of displacement , also referred to as theta ( )
Then the expression for energy or work done will be given as :
W= Fcosθ x s
where is the angle between the direction of force and direction of motion.
Fcos = Horizontal component of force F
s = displacement
