What kind of material can be used to make handles of cooking utensils?
There is an extremely wide range of materials that are used for the handle portion of cooking utensils. Ideally, as long as the material won't melt at temperatures below about 212°F , doesn't dissolve in water, and isn't composed of some highly toxic substance, it can probably be used as a handle. I have cooking utensils with handles made out of wood, aluminum, nylon, steel, bakelite, etc… Ideally, you want a durable, non-slip, thermally opaque handle. I happen to prefer wooden handles. That way, when something happens to the handle, I can always fix it with a quick trip to the scrap wood bin and a bit of shaping/sanding/oiling!
