1. Lots of energy is wasted in moving object over frictioned surface.

2. It requires large amount of greasing and oiling for machines to work.

Advantages of friction:
•One can hold any object with finger due to friction.
•One can walk safely without slipping because of friction between the ground and feet.
•Bakes are able to stop the vehicle only due to frictional force between brake shoes and the inner surface of the brake drum.
•A match stick is lightened because of friction.
•Nails and screws are drawn in the walls due to friction.
•In machine,power is transmitted from the motor to different parts of the machine because of the frictional force between the belt and wheel.


Disadvantage of friction:
•Due to friction wear and Tear of Machines increase.
•Heat generated due to friction decreases the efficiency of engine.
•Friction results in large amount of power loss in engine
