CO2 acts as a perfect fire extinguisher as it prevents fire from further burning.
mostly fire extinguisher contain H2SO4 and baking soda which in reaction gives CO2 which extinguishes the fire

because there is a need of oxygen to burn anything but when we use carbon dioxide as Fire extinguisher that is disconnect oxygen from burning substance
