Note there is a difference between galvanometer and ammeter

galvanometer is used to detect current however small it might be in magnitude and it cannot measure current of higher magnitude

it can still measure current of very low magnitude

Ammeter is used to measure the magnitude of current and it cannot detect very low magnitude current

to sum up

Galvanometer--->detects current--->allows  only very low magnitude current

Ammeter--->Measures current--->Even higher magnitude current can pass
