Usage of Gerunds is very important in English Language. It shows that the work is being done.
Gerund is when you add ing after a word. It clearly shows that you're DOING something. So the Gerund of verb 'dance' becomes 'dancing'.
Now you know how important ING is in English.
I am dance. (This is stupid)
While,
I am dancing. (Makes sense)
I hope it helps you.

Hey friend!
A gerund looks same as that of a part participle...It has the same function as that of a name...though it is termed as a verb.
The term -ing form is usually termed for gerunds specifically..
Gerund is used to label non-finite verb forms...
Examples of gerund used as a subject:-
Singing is one of my hobbies.
Exercising is a good practice..
Hope it helps ^_^
