Water takes a long time to heat and a long time to cool. However, it has the highest specific heat capacity.

Uses of the high specific heat capacity of water:

•    Fomentation: In fomentation, hot water bottles are used. Because the water remains hot in the bottle for a long time in spite of giving off large quantities of heat. •    Car radiators: Due to the high specific heat capacity of water, it can absorb a large amount of heat energy from the engine of the car, but its temperature does not rise too high. Hence water is used as coolant car radiators.•    Bottled Wines: Wine bottles are kept underwater in cold countries. It takes a long time for the temperature to fall to zero degree Celsius due to the high specific heat capacity of water.•    Land and Sea breezes: The specific heat capacity of water is five times more than the sand. So it takes a much longer time to heat and to cool with respect to sand. During the daytime, the land cools faster than the sea. The cool air from the sea moves to take its place while the hot air from the sea rises, giving rise to a sea breeze. Also, the hot air from the land moves to takes its place, giving rise to a land breeze during the night.
