During modern days the GPS (Global Positioning System) has become so popular that the maps now seem to be outdated.

Some of the uses of maps in modern times are as follows:-

1) The most popular use of maps nowadays are in surveys, usually topographical surveys. The digital format of GPS makes it unsuitable for surveys, whereas the maps are preferred for such purposes. Usually the maps for such practices, are small and cover only the required regions.

2) The second most popular use of maps is for navigation. Their are still many places in the world where internet has not reached at such places maps are best for navigation.

3) The most common use of maps is for studies. We all are familiar with the fact that map pointing is still in our syllabus.

4) The other use of map includes comparing the distance between two places and also for drawing great circles and other navigable routes.

             These are the uses of maps in modern world.
