here are some uses of metals :-
1 . GOLD - used in making of jewellery . Used by dentist to fill cavities in teeth
2 . COPPER - used in wires as it is a good conductor of electricity . Used in making of utensils as it is non -reactive and does not attack food acids .
3. MAGNESIUM - used in fire work as it burns in dazzling white flame . Used in making of alloys such as duralumin and magnalium as it impart high tensile strength . It alloys resist corrosion so used in line of water tanks .
ZINC - it is used in dry cells as it is in electro positive in nature . Rusting of iron can be prevented by zinc .
MERCURY - used in making of thermometer , barometer . Solution of MERCURY in metals is called amalgam used in filling tooth cavity .
ALUMINUM - good conductor of electricity so it is used for making high voltages wires . Thin foil of aluminum is used for packing food materials .
IRON - used for making tools , war ship , etc . It is used for casting and in railings as cast iron expands on cooling and can be easily moulded.
