Compressed natural gas (CNG) has been used as a transportation fuel, mostly in public transit. CNG, which is compressed at over 3,000 psi to one percent of the volume the gas would occupy at normal atmospheric pressure, can be burned in an internal combustion engine that has been appropriately modified.

Answer:
CNG is primarily used as a fuel for buses and trucks that return to base for refuelling on a regular basis. CNG is also used as a fuel for cars. CNG vehicles need to be refuelled using purpose built compressors that are connected to a mains supply of natural gas.
